Short Associated Press item on the front page of the Brownsville Herald, 2 July 1928, on the killing of Frank Yale in Brooklyn the day before.

Front page of the Brownsville Herald, Brownsville, Texas, 2 July 1928. The item is datelined New York, July 2, with the Associated Press symbol, and opens: "Chicago gangsters were sought today for the killing of Frank Yale, friend of “Scarface Al” Capone."

It describes Yale as "the man blamed by Chicago police" for the killings of "Big Jim" Colosimo in 1920 and Dion O’Banion in 1924, and says the shooting happened "on a Brooklyn street yesterday." It adds that whether it was connected to the killing of "Big Tim" Murphy in Chicago the week before "was not apparent."

This is a short wire item. The statements about whom Chicago police blamed are the item's, and this archive takes no attribution of guilt from it.
