Associated Press item on the front page of the Evening Star, 25 January 1947, the day Capone died, reporting that a noon bulletin called him slightly improved but very critical, with pneumonia in both lungs.

Front page of the Evening Star, Saturday, 25 January 1947. The item is credited "By the Associated Press," datelined Miami Beach, Fla., Jan. 25, and opens: "Al Capone was being kept alive by oxygen and expert medical care today and a noon bulletin stated he was slightly improved but in a very critical condition."

It reports the delivery of oxygen tanks to "Capone’s 25-room walled villa on Palm Island," and quotes Dr. Arthur J. Logie, a chest specialist, that Capone had developed pneumonia: "I doubt very seriously if there is a chance for recovery."

The page was printed before his death that evening. This archive cites it for the reported illness and the place, not as a medical record.
