A United Press item from Cleveland: Mrs. Concietta Lonardo, widow of the murdered 'Big Joe' Lonardo, was found not guilty of murdering Salvatore (Black Jack) Todaro.

Page 6 of the Indianapolis Times, home edition, for Friday, 15 November 1929. In the first column is the short item "Mother Is Acquitted," with the deck "Widow of Bootleg Sugar King Is Absolved in Slaying," credited to the United Press and datelined Cleveland, November 15.

It reports that Mrs. Concietta Lonardo, 41, widow of the murdered "Big Joe" Lonardo, once bootleg sugar king of Cleveland, was found not guilty by a jury of six men and six women on a charge of murdering Salvatore (Black Jack) Todaro. The verdict was returned on Thursday night, November 14.

The acquittal is the jury's verdict as the wire service reported it. Her son Angelo Lonardo later gave his own account of Todaro's death in his 1988 Senate testimony; that is testimony, filed [separately](/items/psi-1988-lonardo-testimony/).
