A continuation of a front-page story with interviews: Parkerson defends the action; the Italian consul says the trouble is between the Matrangas and the Provenzanos and demands a change of venue; the Mayor says Parkerson and his associates 'did just right.'

The Tribune of 17 March 1891 continues on page 5 a front-page story under "All Quiet in New Orleans," with interviews. Parkerson defends the action and says the Mafia's "intimidation" and "corruption of our juries" called for strong measures. The Italian consul, Signor Corte, says the whole trouble is between the Matrangas and the Provenzanos, that only five of the men not killed and two of those killed were unnaturalized, and demands a change of venue for the remaining prisoners. The Mayor says Parkerson and his associates "did just right."

The statements are the speakers' own, as the Tribune's correspondent reported them. Parkerson's defense and the Mayor's approval are quoted, not endorsed. The Indianapolis Journal of 17 March reprints the same interview.
