An International News Service dispatch from Chicago reporting a shooting, a police search for George "Bugs" Moran and five others, and a dated list of killings between May 31 and June 9, 1930.

Front page of the Washington Times, Home Edition, Monday, 9 June 1930. The story is in the third column under the headline ""Bugs" Moran and 5 Pals Missing" and the deck "Aloysius Kearney, Gangster, Found Killed by 6 Bullets, Eleventh to Die in War." It is credited to the International News Service and datelined Chicago, June 9.

The dispatch reports a killing that day and the shooting of a man it describes as "once accused as the distributor of the machine guns used in the St. Valentine's Day massacre of seven Moran gangsters." It says that while police tried to learn from him how he had been shot, "a search was under way for George "Bugs" Moran, gang leader, and five other enemies of the "Scarface" Al Capone forces," and that friends of Moran and police believed he and his aides might have been killed. It closes with a dated list of killings from May 31 to June 9, which continues on page 2. Page 2 was not read for this archive.

What police and friends "believe" is the wire service's report of rumor. Later federal records filed here, such as the [1932 Bureau memorandum](/items/fbi-vault-moran-p01-antioch-memorandum-1932/) and the [1946 FBI memorandum](/items/fbi-vault-moran-p02-attorney-general-memorandum-1946/), show Moran alive after 1930. This archive does not repeat the paper's labels for the people named in the list of killings.
