The report explains how the CIA's Support Chief and Robert Maheu approached John Rosselli in 1960, how he used the cover name 'John Rawlston', and how 'Sam Gold' and 'Joe' were later identified from a newspaper supplement as Giancana and Santos Trafficante.

Senate Report No. 94-465, at PDF pages 86 to 88 (the report's printed pages are about 73 to 75), explains how in 1960 the CIA's Support Chief and Robert Maheu approached "John Rosselli, an underworld figure," described as having contacts with the gambling syndicate, about a plan against Fidel Castro.

The report says Rosselli used the cover name "John Rawlston" and, in a footnote, that he registered at a Miami hotel as J. A. Rollins. It says he introduced Maheu to "Sam Gold" and "Joe," whom the Support Chief later identified from a Miami newspaper supplement as "Momo Salvatore Giancana, a Chicago-based gangster" and Santos Trafficante. A footnote records that "Sam Giancana was murdered in his home on June 20, 1975."

The report spells the name "Rosselli." The date of this page is the report's date. The Sam Gold sentence is also quoted on the [report's main page](/items/church-committee-s-rep-94-465/); this page adds the surrounding pages.
