First Circuit opinion of May 1, 1987 affirming a Boston defense lawyer's conviction for conspiracy to obstruct justice. The case grew out of the FBI's 1981 court-authorized surveillance of an apartment at 98 Prince Street in Boston's North End.

United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit, May 1, 1987. William J. Cintolo, a Boston criminal defense attorney, appealed his conviction for conspiracy to obstruct justice under 18 U.S.C. §§ 371 and 1503. The jury had acquitted him on two substantive obstruction counts. The court affirmed.

The opinion states that the case "grew out of the judicially sanctioned electronic surveillance of an apartment at 98 Prince Street in Boston's North End." It describes the premises as "used by Gennaro Angiulo and his associates as a headquarters and office for the operation of illegal gambling and loansharking businesses." The FBI "monitored the conversations which took place on the premises from January 19 to May 3, 1981," mainly through hidden microphones, with an exterior camera.

The same surveillance supplied the evidence in the Angiulo and Zannino prosecutions filed with this record. A footnote in [United States v. Angiulo, 847 F.2d 956](/items/courtlistener-us-v-angiulo-847-f2d-956/) records that this conviction was affirmed.
