# FBI Vault file on Anthony Giacalone

The FBI Vault's four-part release of the Detroit anti-racketeering file on Anthony Joseph Giacalone (Detroit file 92-228, Bureau file 92-3077), running from the opening report of January 1958 to interviews after James R. Hoffa's disappearance in July 1975.

The Vault lists four parts under "Anthony Giacalone." Part 01 opens with the Detroit office's anti-racketeering case, begun in December 1957 under Detroit file 92-228; later memoranda print the Bureau file number 92-3077. Part 02 is dominated by 1960 to 1962 reports and teletypes, Part 03 runs from 1963 to 1968, and Part 04 (Final) covers 1971 to 1976, including an Atlanta homebuilding inquiry, a 1970s federal tax prosecution, and, from about page 75, Miami and Detroit interviews after James R. Hoffa disappeared in July 1975.

This archive read the parts through the viewer's OCR text layer. The text tool stopped at 400 pages, so Parts 01 to 03 may run longer than the copy read. Three documents have their own pages here: the opening Detroit report of 18 January 1958, a Detroit teletype of 19 July 1962, and a page of a later Detroit report summarizing a newspaper account of the Detroit police commissioner's testimony of 10 October 1963.

The file contains many redactions under FOIA exemptions (b)(6), (b)(7)(C) and (b)(7)(D), and many newspaper clippings, including Detroit Free Press pages on the tax trial in Part 04. Those clippings are not cleared and are not quoted. The outcome of the tax case is known in the file only from those clippings and from OCR that was not checked against the scan, so it is not stated here.
