The page of the FBI's 1936 Karpis-Barker narrative that begins its history of Edna Murray, whom it says was born at Marion, Kansas, on May 26, 1898 and was an early associate of Volney Davis.

Page 10 of the FBI Vault's "Bremer Investigation Summary Part 01 (Final)," read from the page image; page 11 was read in OCR. After an account of the gang in St. Paul in 1932, the Bureau writes: "Prior to the conviction of Volney Davis for murder in the State of Oklahoma he had known and associated with Edna Murray. In tracing the history of Edna Murray, it was learned that she was born in Marion, Kansas on May 26, 1898."

On page 11, as read in the OCR, the summary says that she and Jack Murray were convicted at Kansas City, Missouri, on 1 October 1925 of a holdup and each sentenced to 25 years in the Missouri State Penitentiary, that the press called her the "Flapper Bandit" or "Kissing Bandit," and that she escaped on 2 May 1927 and again on 4 November 1931. A later page (16) places her with Volney Davis in St. Paul, living as "Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Davis."

All of this is the Bureau's 1936 account; no court record of her convictions has been opened. The page image names her parents, siblings, a son and earlier marriages, and the Bureau introduces one marriage with "it is said." Those family details are not carried onto this archive's pages.
