FBI airtel summarizing Genovese's 16 June 1959 appearance under subpoena before the New York State Commission of Investigation, which granted him immunity and questioned him about Apalachin, with the FBI's account of how he said he came to go.

Part 01 of the FBI Vault's Vito Genovese file, scan 293: an airtel from the SAC, New York to the Director. The page continues on the next scan. The file numbers printed are Bureau 92-2709, Newark 92-380 and New York 92-658. An "EX-136" stamp appears on the page; its purpose is not stated.

The airtel reads: "Subject appeared this date before NYS Commission of Investigation in response to subpoena. The Commission granted him immunity and then questioned him concerning Apalachin Meeting on 11/14/57. He stated that on the Sunday before 11/14/57, JOSEPH IDA who he identified as a social acquaintance who he has known for about 8 years visited him at his home in NJ. IDA told him that he and another individual had been invited to a party which was to be given by one JOSEPH BARBARA in Apalachin, NY, on 11/14/57, and he, IDA, invited subject to accompany them to the party."

This is the FBI's summary of testimony, not the transcript, which has not been located. The [Second Circuit](/items/courtlistener-us-v-bufalino-285-f2d-408/) records that the defendants' accounts of why they were at Apalachin varied, and that the government offered no evidence of the meeting's purpose.
