The synopsis of a large Chicago report states that Humphreys was 'born 4/20/1899, Chicago, Illinois', had been a leader of the Chicago underworld since the 1920s, and was the only leader of the Capone mob then active in Chicago; it says no prosecution was pending.

The synopsis of a large Chicago report dated May 12, 1961 (Chicago file 92-348; the report continues into Parts 10 and 11). It states that Humphreys was "born 4/20/1899, Chicago, Illinois," kept residences in Chicago and at Key Biscayne, Florida, and was divorced by his wife of 36 years in July 1957. It says he had been a leader of the Chicago underworld since the 1920s and calls him (OCR) the only leader of the Capone mob then active in Chicago, says that no prosecutive action was pending, and says the Internal Revenue Service had been trying for years to find him to question him about income tax.

The synopsis says the report sets out his associates by category (underworld associates and underlings, attorneys, businessmen, labor leaders, politicians, public officials, congressmen and law-enforcement officers) and his arrest record since 1920; a table of contents follows.

The leadership language is the FBI's characterization, not a finding. The birth date is the one he gave; the report's own inquiry into it is filed as [Part 10: birth and citizenship](/items/fbi-vault-humphreys-p10-birth-citizenship-1961/). Personal relationships and addresses in the report are not repeated. This archive read the page through the Vault viewer's OCR text layer. The scans are poor; names, dates and figures can be garbled, and many names are redacted under FOIA exemptions (b6, b7C, b7D).

The synopsis page prints his residential addresses, so no page image is stored; the page shows a document plate.
