An FBI Miami field-office report says Lansky usually wintered in rented homes at Hollywood, Florida, visited Havana often, and was one of twenty-two indicted by a Broward County grand jury on 24 August 1950 'due to his connection with' three gambling clubs.

Viewer page 84 of Part 01, serial 62-97928-23, is the opening page of a Miami report dated 19 July 1957. Its "Personal History and Background" section says Lansky was born 4 July 1902 at Grodno, "which was then in Poland, Russia," was naturalized on 27 September 1928 in the Eastern District of New York, and has "usually spent his winters at various rented homes in Hollywood, Florida," and that "He has also made frequent visits to Havana, Cuba."

Its "Criminal Activities" section says that as a result of testimony at the Kefauver Committee's public hearings in Miami in summer 1950, "a Broward County, Florida, Grand Jury undertook an investigation of gambling activities and on August 24, 1950, the Grand Jury returned indictments against twenty-two persons for violations of local gambling statutes." Lansky "was one of those indicted, due to his connection with the Colonial Inn, Club Greenacres, and Club La Boheme, all of which were known as gambling casinos."

An earlier Miami report in the same part (viewer page 27) states that Lansky surrendered on 24 August 1950 at Fort Lauderdale and was released on $2,500 bonds, and that Sheriff Walter Clark of Broward County was removed from office by Governor Fuller Warren after the Kefauver hearings. The pages filed do not state the disposition of the 1950 charges. The text was read from the page image stored here.
