The FBI's September 1947 personal-history memorandum on Phillip D'Andrea, prepared with the others on the paroled men. Its last page records his 1931 arrest by the U.S. Marshal at Chicago for contempt of court, "during the trial of Al Capone with a revolver concealed on his person."

Scans 11 to 13 of Part 01 of the FBI Vault's John Roselli file hold the memorandum on Phillip D'Andrea, one of the personal-history memoranda prepared in September 1947. The dateline is not legible on scan 11; the month is taken from the companion memoranda on scans 6, 9 and 14. The research for this archive read the pages through the viewer's OCR, which is heavily garbled on scans 11 and 12.

The legible passages say he was indicted in the Southern District of New York with other defendants for violation of the Anti-Racketeering statute, was found guilty after a jury trial, was sentenced on December 31, 1943 to ten years and a $10,000 fine, and, according to newspaper accounts, was paroled on August 13, 1947. Birth data and the organizational titles on these pages are not legible enough to record.

Only scan 13, the memorandum's third page, is stored here; scan 11 prints residence addresses and is not reproduced. Scan 13 reads that "he was arrested by the U. S. Marshal at Chicago, Illinois on October" (the day is blurred) "1931 on a charge of being in contempt of court," that he was sentenced to a term of imprisonment (the length is blurred), and that "This arrest was effected when it was ascertained" that he was "in Federal Court during the trial of Al Capone with a revolver concealed on his person." It adds: "D'Andrea's criminal record is shown under FBI No. 602720," with a 1932 arrest "on general principles" by the Chicago Police and the fingerprint record of the anti-racketeering conviction. Representative Hoffman told the House in November 1947 that Justice Department records noted the same courtroom incident.
