Louis Campagna answered a subpoena for financial records on 9 September 1950 (Part 5, pp. 53-74), producing a ledger and tax returns prepared by his auditor.

He said he went to prison in 1943, came home in 1947 and was on parole. He described a farm of about 800 acres at Fowler, Indiana, bought in 1942 for about $100,000, and a second farm at Berrien Springs, Michigan, and said he had lived in his Berwyn home since 1928 or 1929. Asked about Claude Maddox (pp. 63-64), he said he had known him "a few years" and had heard that Maddox had a saloon in Cicero, which he called hearsay.
