Recalled the next morning, Mrs. Campagna said she had decided she did not need counsel and would cooperate, and that she did not know who had paid money toward her husband's tax settlement: "Up to this day I don't know who did it." Pp. 645-651.

"Further testimony of Mrs. Charlotte Campagna, Berwyn, Ill.," at the session of Wednesday, 18 October 1950, in room 267 of the U.S. Courthouse, Chicago (Part 5, printed pages 645 to 651). The text was read from the Internet Archive's OCR; the first part of the passage was read closely.

Asked whether she had consulted counsel, she said: "I decided I didn't need one, that I would come in and cooperate to the best of my ability." Asked whether she knew who had left money with the attorney to pay off the tax, she answered: "No, sir; I do not. Up to this day I don't know who did it." She described being served with lien papers by an agent and looking up the attorney's telephone number because she had read of him as a tax man.

Counsel's account of the payments, and the names of other men raised in counsel's questions, are questions, not testimony or findings, and are not repeated here.
