Alfred Polizzi of Coral Gables, Florida, told the committee he ran a construction firm and had left Cleveland in 1945, declined to testify about earlier years, and denied the accusations that he belonged to the Mafia or the 'Mayfield Road gang'.

Printed pages 111 to 116, 264 to 314 and 419 to 451 of Part 6: Polizzi appeared in the Cleveland sittings in January 1951 and again in Washington on February 19, 1951, with counsel Parker Fulton. He gave a Coral Gables residence and his business as general construction under the name "Thompson & Polizzi." Asked about his departure from Cleveland, he said, "I left in 1945," and on counsel's objection that earlier events were not pertinent he declined to testify about the years before.

Committee counsel put into the record a Cleveland police identification record under the name "Alfred Polizzi, alias Albert Polizzi, alias Albert Allen"; Polizzi said he did not recall being called Albert Allen. He said Chuck Polizzi was not his brother: "I have always considered him a cousin." He acknowledged business dealings with Frank Milano.

Asked by Senator O'Conor what accusations he meant, he said: "They have accused me of being in the Mafia and accused me of being in the Mayfield Road gang, and I absolutely deny it. It is not true." His counsel read into the record a Cleveland Press editorial of October 20, 1938 about the "so-called Mayfield Road gang." Polizzi's denials are his testimony; the police record is a list of arrests, not convictions, read by counsel.
