Underwood & Underwood photograph in the NYWT&S collection of soldiers carrying the coffin of "Monk" Eastman past an honor guard and onlookers, December 1920. A copy is stored here.

The Library of Congress titles this print "Body of 'Monk' Eastman passing through guard of honor" and dates it December 1920. It is an Underwood & Underwood photograph in the New York World-Telegram and the Sun collection, filed under the Library's heading for Eastman as a gangster, dead.

The image shows soldiers carrying a coffin past an honor guard and a crowd of onlookers. The rights line in the record names Underwood & Underwood and still reads "No known restrictions on publication." The record gives no cause of death and no place beyond New York, and this page adds neither.
