Bain News Service photograph captioned "'Lefty Louie', 'Gyp the Blood', & their captors", from the Herman Rosenthal murder case. A copy is stored here.

The Library of Congress catalogs this Bain News Service photograph under its caption, ""Lefty Louie", "Gyp the Blood", & their captors." The Library's summary says it shows "Lefty Louie" Rosenberg and "Gyp the Blood" Horowitz, who with "Whitey" Lewis and "Dago Frank" Cirofici were convicted of killing Herman Rosenthal, proprietor of an alleged gambling house in New York City. The summary credits the Flickr Commons project (2008).

The record gives the date as [1912], a date the Library notes may be when Bain created or published the print. It does not name the captors. This archive has not filed the trial record; the conviction is stated here as the Library's summary states it.

The photograph is a George Grantham Bain Collection glass negative. The copy stored here is the Library's service JPEG.
