# Three men at a table of papers, identified from a Library summary as federal prohibition agents (1919-1920)

Canonical: https://mobfiles.org/items/loc-2014710305-shevlin-quigley-mcguiness/

Library of Congress Bain News Service photograph of three men seated at a table of papers. The caption gives only surnames; the identifications come from the Library's summary citing Flickr Commons.

The Bain caption reads "J.F. McGuiness, Jas. Shevlin & J.J. Quigley." The Library's summary, which cites Flickr Commons (2017) and not the caption, identifies James Shevlin as Supervising Federal Prohibition Enforcement Agent, New York; John J. Quigley as Assistant Prohibition Enforcement Agent; and James Francis McGuiness as a Federal Prohibition Agent, whom the summary says was shot and killed in Bayonne, New Jersey, in 1920.

These identifications and the 1920 killing are the Library's summary, flagged here as unverified against a federal record. The negative is dated [1919 or 1920]. The copy stored here is the Library of Congress service JPEG.
