Library of Congress Bain News Service portrait labeled "R.S. [i.e. A.] Haynes". The Library's summary, citing Flickr Commons, identifies him as Roy Asa Haynes, in charge of Prohibition enforcement.

The Library of Congress title is "R.S. [i.e. A.] Haynes." The Library's summary, citing the Flickr Commons project, identifies the sitter as Roy Asa Haynes (1881-1940), United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in charge of Prohibition enforcement 1920-1925. That biographical statement is the cataloger's, not the negative's, and has not been checked here against a federal source; this page does not rely on it for any date or office.

The photograph is a Bain News Service negative dated between about 1920 and about 1925. The copy stored here is the Library of Congress service JPEG.
