Harris & Ewing photograph of ten men holding a "Cook County Committee" placard, identified in the caption as Chicago wets at the Prohibition hearing at the Capitol on 8 April. A copy is stored here.

The Library of Congress gives a long Harris & Ewing caption: "Report of Cook County Committee. Prominent wets from Chicago appeared at the wet and dry hearing at the U.S. Capitol today, April, 8th." It names, left to right, front row Arthur J. Cermak, Henry Berger, Alderman J.A. Arbey and Cong. A.J. Sabath; back row Cong. S.H. Kunz, Morris Sabath, Dr. W.D. McNally, Dr. F.J. Certy and J.F. Delaney. The spellings are the caption's.

The caption gives no year. The Library dates the item 1926 within a creation range of 1926-1929. This is a Prohibition-politics scene, a delegation testifying about the law. It is not a record of organized crime, and the people named are the caption's, not this archive's identifications.
