Allen Dorfman, describing himself as in the insurance business, declined under the Fifth Amendment to say when he began it. Robert Kennedy said the hearing concerned how Dorfman "came to be the broker for the Central Conference of Teamsters Welfare and Pension Fund."

Part 43 covers the hearings of 27, 28 and 29 January and 3 February 1959. Allen Dorfman testified on 27 January, with counsel Stanford Clinton. Earlier the same day a witness identified articles of incorporation of Ram Transport, Enterprise Equipment & Leasing and Reed Transportation (Exhibits 215A to 215C).

Dorfman described himself as in the insurance business. Asked "Mr. Dorfman, when did you begin your insurance business?" he answered: "I claim my privilege under the fifth amendment to the Constitution." Kennedy said he had understood that the witness would answer questions about "how Mr. Dorfman came to be the broker for the Central Conference of Teamsters Welfare and Pension Fund," and asked how he became broker for the insurance of the Central States Health and Welfare Fund. Dorfman gave the same answer to each question (printed p. 15985).

A refusal to answer is not evidence of the facts asked about. The page records the questions and the answers only.
