Operatives' reports for 13 April 1903, the day before the barrel was found: agents followed 'Morrello' to La Duca's butcher shop at 16 Stanton Street and to Elizabeth Street, where he met 'Cascioferro' and other men.

These pages, stamped 85 to 89, are in the same Secret Service volume (T915, roll 109) as the report of a week earlier. They hold operatives' reports for 13 April 1903, the day before a man's body was found in a barrel on East Eleventh Street.

Page 87, shown here, follows "Morrello" through the afternoon and evening: he "passed through Stanton St. coming from the direction of the Bowery" and "went to La Duca's," the butcher shop at #16 Stanton Street; later he went to an address on Elizabeth Street, "there met Cascioferro and other Italians," and returned with others to the Stanton Street shop. The operative stopped the watch at about 9 p.m., leaving "Cascioferro and Morrello" on Elizabeth Street. Another page records an operative's request to be furnished with a Colt revolver.

The New-York Tribune of 16 April reported that Secret Service agents had seen the murdered man at the Stanton Street shop on that Monday evening ([16 April 1903](/clippings/clip-new-york-tribune-1903-04-16-p1/)). The pages read for this record do not describe him; the operative's identification of the body is in the reports for 14 April ([pages 103-111](/items/nara-151173326-secret-service-1903-04-14-17-reports-pp103-111/)). Pages 86 and 88 were not read. The spellings "Morrello" and "Cascioferro" are the report's, and no other record filed here identifies Cascioferro further. The shop is a business address printed in the report; other street numbers are not reproduced here.
