It is a Bureau of Prisons notebook form with an identification photograph at the upper right; the placard in the photograph reads 139. It belongs to the series Warden's Notebook Pages (NAID 296686).

The typed entries, as printed: name "Harvey J. Bailey," No. 139, received 9-4-34 from Leavenworth, age 47, date of birth 8/23/87. Offense "Kidnapping & Holding for Ransom," dated Oct. 7, 1933; sentence "Life"; district sentenced "W/Okla., (Okla., City)." A stamp at the top reads "TRANSFERRED SEP 8 1946" with a handwritten "to Leav." A detainer is listed for an escape from the Kansas penitentiary at Lansing. A red note on the page cites records of the Division of Investigation for an earlier state sentence and escape, and says he was wanted in connection with the Union Station killings at Kansas City, Missouri, on June 17, 1933, before the conviction recorded here. That note is a staff statement; this archive takes nothing about the Kansas City killings from it. The "Reason for Transfer" box is staff opinion and is not repeated.
