The identification photograph's placard reads "U.S. Penitentiary Alcatraz 595". The page records his receipt on 1-7-43 from Joliet, Illinois, the offenses of mail robbery and conspiracy, and a 1942 escape from Joliet.

The catalog's remark field reads "MEMBER OF TOUHY GANG". That is the catalog's wording; the FBI's own caption on its [Banghart booking photograph](/items/fbi-basil-banghart-alcatraz/) also places him in the Touhy gang. The catalog records a transfer to the state prison at Joliet on 12/04/1954.
