Criminal case file 23256 for the June 1931 Prohibition indictment of Alphonse Capone and many co-defendants, charged, the catalog says, with unlawfully possessing intoxicating alcohol.

A case file in the series Criminal Case Files (NAID 624785), Record Group 21, from the U.S. District Court at Chicago, case 23256. The catalog describes the June 1931 indictment of Alphonse (Al) Capone and about seventy named co-defendants, among them Joseph C. Fusco, Nick Juffra, Bert Delaney, George Howlett and Steve Swoboda. It says they were charged with unlawfully possessing intoxicating alcohol and that the file holds an indictment, appearances, bench warrants, citations and motions.

The Attorney General's letter of 24 July 1931 refers to "the indictment charging conspiracy to violate the National prohibition act." That letter does not give a case number, and this archive has not matched the reference to this file from its pages.

The pages were not read for this archive. The description follows the National Archives catalog entry.
