An untitled Berryman drawing of 3 April 1928: Senator William Bruce of Maryland in rain gear under a bulletin that Democratic leaders say Prohibition will not be a question in the 1928 campaign.

The catalog lists this drawing as untitled, local identifier I-048, dated 3 April 1928. A man labelled "BRUCE," in a rain hat and raincoat, stands in puddles holding an umbrella blown inside out and says, "IT MAY BE A DRY CAMPAIGN IN SOME PLACES BUT IT'S GOING TO BE AWFUL WET IN MY MARYLAND." A bulletin beside him reads "MANY DEMOCRATIC LEADERS CLAIM IT WONT BE A QUESTION OF PROHIBITION IN THIS 1928 CAMPAIGN."

The National Archives note identifies the figure as Senator William Bruce of Maryland and says he disputed the claim that prohibition would not be an issue in the 1928 presidential campaign, and that many Maryland residents favored an end to prohibition. The identification and the reading are the note's.

The drawing is an editorial cartoon about the politics of Prohibition, not a record of enforcement.
