A Berryman drawing of 7 June 1932: the Postmaster General carries the Republican Prohibition plank toward the Chicago convention while "Miss Democracy" looks on. No copy is stored.

The catalog title is "Postmaster General Brown's Prize Package," local identifier I-005, dated 7 June 1932. A man in a hat marked "POSTMASTER GENERAL" carries a package marked "G.O.P. PROHIBITION PLANK," labelled "NOT TO BE OPENED TILL JUNE 15. HANDLE WITH CARE!", and says, "BELIEVE ME, EVERYBODY'S GOING TO LIKE THIS O.K!" An old woman marked "MISS DEMOCRACY" watches, and a sign points "TO CHICAGO."

The National Archives note says Prohibition was the major platform issue for the Republicans meeting in Chicago in 1932, that President Hoover supported a majority plank calling for enforcement with a national referendum letting each state decide, and that "over one-third of the delegates supported the minority plank" for abolition. Those statements are the note's.

No image is stored here. The drawing is an editorial cartoon on the politics of repeal.
