# Carl Civella

In the Eighth Circuit's 1985 opinion on the Tropicana skim, Carl James Civella was convicted in the Western District of Missouri on a conspiracy count, interstate transport counts and Travel Act counts and sentenced to thirty years; the opinion lists him among those who met about the Tropicana.

The opinion's captions list "Carl James Civella" twice, once for each appeal number, and the text uses "Civella" and "Carl Civella"; this page treats them as one person as the opinion does, but the opinion never spells out that they are the same. No role is entered. Living status was not checked; the page keeps to the court records.

The Eighth Circuit in a separate 1981 tax appeal records an Assistant U.S. Attorney's statement that Carmen J. Civella was "the son of Carl Civella and the cousin of Nicholas Civella." That statement is the prosecutor's, recorded by the court.
