A defendant in the federal case over the 1923 Staunton, Illinois mail robbery, found guilty on two of four counts in 1924 and sentenced to 25 years; the Seventh Circuit held that the evidence showed him active in preparing the robbery. His Leavenworth photograph is No. 22069.

The records state no role for Dietmeyer in any group. The Alcatraz card lists him separately from the others: "Gustiv B. Dietmeyer was also sentenced to 25 years at Leavenworth."
