# Joseph Aiuppa

Refused the Kefauver Committee's questions, was convicted in a federal migratory-bird case affirmed in 1968, and was convicted in the Las Vegas skimming case affirmed in 1987, where the Government charged him as boss of the Chicago group.

The heading follows the 1987 caption. The Kefauver contents list him as "Aiuppa, Joseph, Cicero, Ill."; the 1986 opinion prints Joseph P. Aiuppa.

The family and role lines repeat the Eighth Circuit's description of the Government's charge, not a finding by the court. A 1959 FBI memorandum in the Accardo Vault file also mentions a position held by "JOE AIUPPA in Cicero"; it is a third-hand account and is not used here. No opened record gives his birth or death date.
