Convicted with Roy Williams, later president of the Teamsters, of conspiring to bribe a U.S. Senator (affirmed 1984), in the Las Vegas skimming case (affirmed 1987), and at the 2007 Family Secrets trial, where he was sentenced to life.

The aliases are the 2005 release's ("the Clown," "Lumpy," "Lumbo") and the Seventh Circuit's in Ambrose ("Joey 'the Clown' Lombardo"). The family line is the Seventh Circuit's phrase "members of the Outfit" in Schiro. The role line is the indictment's description as the U.S. Attorney's release reported it, and an indictment is an allegation.
