A defendant convicted in 1924 in the federal case over the 1923 Staunton, Illinois mail robbery and sentenced to 25 years; his Leavenworth identification photograph is No. 22067.

The records state no role for Daugherty. The National Archives title and the transcript's title page spell the name Dougherty; the indictment, the opinion, the Alcatraz card and the back of the photograph spell it Daugherty. "Egan's Rats" is the National Archives' and the 1924 press's name for the group, not a word in any record about him.
