A defendant convicted in 1924 in the federal case over the 1923 Staunton, Illinois mail robbery and sentenced to 25 years; his Leavenworth identification photograph is No. 22072.

The records state no role for Ryan. A 1950 Senate committee exhibit names a "Steve Ryan," with Colbeck and others, in the operation of a St. Louis pinball distributor; it does not connect him to this case, and it is not used here.
