Page 22 of the Day Book, Tuesday, 4 November 1913. A wire item datelined New York, 4 November, reports that a woman was killed because her husband had refused to pay money demanded in a letter he received a month earlier, and that the killers were “believed members of the ‘Black Hand.’” The item describes the wounds in detail; they are not repeated here.

The attribution is the paper’s belief. The item reports no arrest, and no record filed here identifies anyone responsible. The victim’s name appears on the page only as the OCR reads it and is not repeated here.
