Page 4 of the Washington Evening Star for Friday, 24 May 1929. The item “Four Village Officials Linked With Rum Gang,” with the deck “Indictments Returned by United States Grand Jury, Charging Conspiracy,” is credited to the Associated Press and datelined Detroit.

It reports that a federal grand jury at Detroit indicted four officials of the village of Inkster, an alleged member of the Purple Gang named Sam Adler, and the operator of trucks said to have been used in running liquor between Detroit and Chicago, on charges of conspiracy to violate the national prohibition law.

The names of the other defendants are garbled in the Library of Congress OCR and are not repeated here. An indictment is a charge, and the page gives no outcome.
