The Sporting Extra (the Library of Congress’s “SPORTING EXTRA,” edition 4) of The Evening World for 14 March 1891 prints the headline “Lynched! Eleven Prisoners Shot or Hanged by a New Orleans Mob. Prominent Lawyers Lead Lynchers into the City Prison.” It lists the dead, says two prisoners listed first (Matranga, Incardona) were later reported not to have been shot in their cells, and names Parkerson, Wickliff and ex-Sheriff Houston as leaders. The roster printed early in the article is OCR-garbled; names are the ones read clearly.

A background section calls the Matrangas and Provenzanos rival stevedores engaged in unloading fruit vessels, says work was taken from the Provenzanos and given to the Matrangas, and says nineteen were indicted and nine tried from 16 February. That background is the paper’s own account. The page’s headline and wording are the paper’s and are not endorsed here.
