The Pittsburg Dispatch of 15 March 1891 reports the New Orleans killings on its front page, with a section describing the night before. It says three or four secret meetings were held after the verdict, that the Mayor formed a law-and-order committee, and that a mass meeting was proposed at the Clay statue. It prints a call for a mass meeting on Saturday, 14 March, at the Clay statue “to take steps to remedy the failure of justice in the Hennessey case,” signed by about forty men.

The page was read around the section quoted; the OCR is rough, and the call’s text is quoted with OCR errors corrected only where the sense is obvious. The headline field names the section, not the page’s lead headline.
