A New Orleans dispatch of 13 March headed “The Verdict ‘Guilty’” reports that the jury in the Hennessy case found Scaffidi, Politz and Monastero guilty, failed to agree on Bagnetto and the two Marchesis, and acquitted Incardona and Matranga. It describes the jurors being jeered as they reached Lafayette Square.
This contradicts the Sun, the Evening World and the Pittsburg Dispatch of the same dates, which report not-guilty verdicts as to six defendants and disagreement as to three. The page is filed as an example of an erroneous early report, not as evidence of the verdict. The case record of the verdict is not filed in this archive.
