Front page of the Wilmington Morning Star, Wilmington, N.C., Tuesday, 28 January 1947. The item is datelined Miami Beach, Fla., Jan. 27, with the Associated Press symbol, and opens: “Funeral plans for Al Capone remained a family secret today.”
It reports that the body was at a funeral home, that the rites “were to be as simple as possible, it was reported,” and that “Burial is expected to take place in Chicago.” It repeats the cause of death as an apoplectic stroke followed by pneumonia and a heart condition.
The burial place is given only as expected. This archive does not take a place of burial from this page.
