United States Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, decided September 15, 1971, before Swygert, Stevens, and Sprecher; rehearings denied October and November 1971; certiorari denied February 28, 1972.
The jury “found defendants John P. (Jack) Cerone, Sr., Donald J. Angelini, Dominic Cortina, James Cerone and Joseph Ferriola guilty” of conspiring to violate the Travel Act in connection with a bookmaking operation. Much of the government’s case came from Bombacino, an informer who worked in the operation in 1966 and 1967; the opinion describes meetings with Ferriola and with Jack Cerone.
The court concludes: “The judgments of the district court are affirmed.” CourtListener’s file name for this opinion carries the 1972 certiorari date.
