Rights
Published by the FBI on its Barker/Karpis case page with no third-party credit; presumed an FBI photograph, a federal work under 17 U.S.C. § 105. The FBI credits outside photographs elsewhere on its history pages, so no copy is stored here until the origin is confirmed. The FBI serves the image at the source URL.

The FBI’s caption reads: “The Florida home (right) where ‘Doc’ and ‘Ma’ Barker were killed in a shootout with Bureau agents. Inset: The cache of Barker weapons recovered by agents after the firefight.” The inset shows long guns and other items laid out on the steps of the house. The page does not list them, and this page does not.

The caption is inconsistent with other text on the same FBI page. The page puts Arthur “Doc” Barker’s arrest in Chicago on 8 January 1935 and the Florida shootout on 16 January 1935, which it says killed Fred and Kate Barker. This page repeats neither version of the caption as fact; it files the image as the FBI’s own description of a recovered cache.
