Part 01 of the Vault’s file on Albert Anastasia, 21 pages. The cover sheet gives the file number 62-98011. This archive read it through the viewer’s OCR text layer; the stored image is the first page as the viewer serves it.

A memorandum in the part states that he was “born at Calabria, Italy, date unknown,” that he was believed to be naturalized, and that he had been reported as a notorious racketeer active on the New York City waterfront. Other pages concern the Murder, Inc. inquiries and waterfront investigations. The OCR spells his first name “Umberto Anastasio” in places.

Nothing in Part 01 concerns his killing in 1957. The only federal record filed here on that is NYPD testimony in the 1963 hearings: “He was shot to death in a barber shop in 1957 in New York.”
