FBI Records: The Vault, "Henry Hill Part 01" (1970 Tampa extortion case)
The released FBI file on Henry Hill. Most of the pages read are 1970 teletypes, memoranda and FD-302s in an interstate racketeering and extortionate-credit case in which a federal grand jury at Tampa indicted Hill on November 18, 1970; he was arraigned in the Eastern District of New York the next day.

The FBI Vault’s “Henry Hill Part 01 (Final).” The first viewer page is a 1992 Los Angeles form recording authority for the emergency use of consensual monitoring equipment. Most of the pages read, through viewer page 400, are 1970 communications of the Tampa, New York and Miami offices in an extortion case, Tampa file 166-1149 and New York file 166-3150. The research tool stopped at viewer page 400, so later pages, if any, were not read.
A New York report states: “On November 18, 1970, the Tampa Division advised that HENRY HILL was indicted on a five count true bill indictment handed down by the Federal Grand Jury, Tampa, Florida, on November 18, 1970, charging HILL with the exact same offenses as” two co-defendants, one of them James Burke. A Tampa announcement describes the charges as interstate transportation in aid of racketeering (gambling and extortion) and “the Extortionate Extension of Credit made to a Tampa bar owner and doctor.” The next page records that on November 19, 1970 Hill “was arraigned before United States Commissioner MAX SHIFFMAN, at the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), Brooklyn,” with bond set at $100,000. These passages were read from the viewer’s OCR.
This file is not testimony; it predates the cooperation described in United States v. Burke. The FD-302s print home addresses and family details of Hill and others, and the alleged victims are private persons. None of that is repeated here, and no page image is stored.
