The Vault lists one document, “Jake Guzik (Final),” of 114 scanned pages. This archive read it through the viewer’s OCR text layer. The date range on this page covers the documents described below.

Page 8 is a Chicago teletype of April 13, 1944 about an unconfirmed report that “JACK GUZIK, GAMBLING BOSS AND FROMER [sic] CAPONE BUSINESS MANAGER” had been kidnapped. The teletype says police had not confirmed it. Page 13 is an undated memorandum headed with his aliases: “Jacob Guzik, Harry Stone Guzik, Jack Guzick, Jack Cusick, Jack Cusik, Sam Kusick, ‘Short Pants’, ‘The Little Man’, ‘The Little Mayor of Cicero’, ‘The Little Guy.’” It states that “John Guzik was born in Moscow, Russia, May 20th or 30th 1886.” It says he began as an operator of vice resorts and wildcat bootleg shops and “later graduated to business manager of some of the Capone underworld enterprises,” and that “On April 8, 1930, he was sentenced to five years and a day” and fined for violation of the income tax laws.

Page 47, a report written in February 1956 or later, relays that the Chicago Sun-Times of February 22, 1956 reported his death on the evening of February 21, 1956. The OCR of the cause of death is garbled. That is the Bureau quoting a newspaper. A clipping elsewhere in the file gives a different birth date from the memorandum’s, so the birth date is not settled by this file.
