The Vault’s file on Salvatore Maranzano is a single part of 18 pages. This archive read it through the viewer’s OCR text layer, which is rough: it prints the address as “230 Park venue” and the date of the killing as “Se?cember 10, 193l.”

The main serial is a Bureau of Investigation report made at New York City on 10/9/31 by agent J. Kilmartin. It concerns immigration re-entry-permit papers taken from the office suite where Maranzano “was killed in his office at 230 Park” Avenue (the OCR reads “Wiio was killed in hia office at 230 Park”). The office was leased by James F. Alascia, from whom Maranzano had subleased. The report’s subject is the immigration inquiry that grew out of the killing.

The report says nothing about Maranzano’s place in any organization. Joseph Valachi’s 1963 account of the killing, which places it “in the office on 46th Street,” is in the 1963 hearings; the two records are kept side by side here, not reconciled.
