Part 01 of the Vault’s file on Vito Genovese, 296 pages, read through the viewer’s OCR text layer. Most serials date from 1957 to 1959, the period of the Bureau’s Top Hoodlum program: name checks and New York reports. A deleted-page sheet lists 119 pages withheld.
One serial relays that a Special Assistant Attorney General in Kansas City learned in 1950, from Mafia sources, of a division into districts with appointed bosses, and that Genovese was named. That is a secondhand report inside an FBI file, and the OCR is fragmentary. This archive does not use it for any statement about Genovese’s role.
For the court’s own statement about Genovese in the 1959 narcotics case, see United States v. Aviles.
