The printed caption is “Proceedings against Frank Costello for contempt of the Senate.” It is Senate Report No. 199, 82d Congress, 1st Session, ordered to be printed March 30, 1951 (legislative day March 26). The report states that the Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce was created by Senate Resolution 202, 81st Congress, and that it issued a subpoena to Frank Costello.

The report places his appearances on February 13, 1951, and on March 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, and 21, 1951. It states that the hearings of March 15, 16, and 21, 1951, were held in room 318 of the United States Courthouse, Foley Square, New York, N.Y. The committee recommended that he be cited for contempt for failing to answer questions at the New York hearings of March 19, 20, and 21, 1951.

A Library of Congress catalog record describes the same printing. The Senate’s later historical sketch of the Kefauver Committee is an institutional essay, not the hearing itself.
