Anthony Gizzo testified on 28 September 1950 (pp. 108-139 of Part 4; pp. 112 and 119 were read). At p. 112 he said he thinks the Glendale Sales Co. soda business “was started by Lazia” and agreed with counsel that Lazia was “pretty well known as king in the gambling world here back in the 1920’s and 1930’s” (“Yes, sir; I think so”). At p. 119, asked about a North Side Democratic Club, he said “Lazia ran the club.”

Gizzo adopts counsel’s characterizations; the descriptions of Lazia are in counsel’s questions. A question about a “big man in the Mafia” and Gizzo’s “Yes, sir” at p. 112 is an allegation by counsel and is not used as a statement of fact.
