Exhibit No. 61 is printed at page 462 of Part 6. On January 18, 1951, associate counsel Joseph L. Nellis asked for the chart “while the chief testifies,” and it was received as “Exhibit No. 61 to Chief Allen’s testimony” (printed page 230). The contents describe it as a “Chart submitted by Edward J. Allen, chief of police, Youngstown, Ohio.” The image stored here is the chart, cut from the printed page; Exhibit 65, printed below it, is not reproduced.

The chart is headed “District Operations of the Licavoli Gang and Associates (aka Purple Gang).” A box labelled “Nominal Leader” holds Peter Licavoli, “Detroit, Mich. - Tucson, Ariz.,” with “connections throughout USA.” A box for the Cleveland, Ohio area names James Licavoli, the Angersolas, Al Polizzi and others. Four boxes below are headed Mahoning County (including Youngstown), Trumbull County (including Warren), Western Pennsylvania, and Buffalo, N.Y. It is signed “by Edward J. Allen, Chief of Police, Youngstown, Ohio, January 1951.” Where the chart labels a person an alien in the country illegally, that is the chief’s label.

This is a hearing exhibit. The names, ranks and relationships printed on it are the labels of a 1951 city police chart. They are not findings of the committee or of a court, and this archive does not copy any of them onto a family page or a person page.
